the story of the Gladiators who have been led by Sarfraz Ahmed with much aplomb. And Sarfraz, who was one of the nine players the side retained, will look to make it three finals in a row – only this time, he will hope he can lead them to a title victory.

Along with Sarfraz, the others who were retained before the PSL Draft were former England batsman Kevin Pietersen, South African middle-order hitter Rilee Rossouw, and Bangladesh all-rounder Mahmudullah. Also held back by the Quetta outfit were Mohammad Nawaz, Anwar Ali, Umar Amin, Mir Hamza and Asad Shafiq.

During the PSL Draft, the Gladiators went for Shane Watson as their Platinum player but what they need to look at is if the Aussie all-rounder remains fit enough throughout the tournament. He had earlier withdrawn from the BPL.

West Indian all-rounder and hard-hitting lower-order batsman Carlos Brathwaite also gets a go as a Diamond pick while Rahat Ali joins the side as their Gold player.

Rameez Raja jnr and Saad Ali were their Silver picks from Pakistan while the emerging players they opted for were Saud Shakeel and Hassan Khan. The side also has England smasher Jason Roy, Afghanistan leggie Rashid Khan and Pakistanis Azam Khan and Faraz Ahmed Khan as their Supplementary players.

In what will be good news for the Quetta Gladiators, a few of their overseas cricketers have acceded to the requests made by PCB to feature in the Pakistan Super League in Pakistan.

Three of the matches will be played in Karachi and Lahore and the likes of Aussie all-rounder Shane Watson, Bangladesh batsman Mahmudullah, England opening batsman Jason Roy, South African middle-order batsman Rilee Rossouw, Windies all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite and Rashid Khan, the much-talked about leggie from Afghanistan have all said yes to featuring in the competition in Lahore and Karachi. The only player who has opted out of the tournament when it will be played in Pakistan is Kevin Pietersen.
